Krakow Managers share which William Hill value is the most important for them? Vol 2.

The main purpose of our set of William Hill values is to protect the great things about our business that we want to keep doing. They influence the decisions and choices we make and each of them works as a guideline of how we behave to "go one better" every day. At the same time, they're a bit of a challenge as they set an aspiration about the kind of place we want to be in the future: "Eyes on the customer", "Give a Damn", "Own It", "On the Same Side" and "'It’ll do' will never do".

All values are equally important but some of them mean more to each of us. In this short series, we caught up with our Krakow colleagues to ask them which value is closest to their heart and why?

Kamil Burczyk, Development Manager at International

My favourite William Hill value is definitely "On the same side" Being put in a challenging and complex situation a lot of people tend to turn into fight mode, us versus them. In reality, my belief is that we are one company and we are working towards the same goals. That’s why I always try to find a common ground even in the most challenging situations. Working as one team brings much better results than working as a number of individuals.

Anatoli Putseyeu, Development Lead at Gaming

If I need to choose one value - I would just go with 'Own It'. All others could be derived from this one. If you own a product - you want your customers to use it, help them with issues and so on - Eye on customers. As this is your product - you want to make it better and constantly improve it - It'll do will never do. It's impossible to create a product alone, you need to be On the same side. And if something is yours - you simple Give a damn about it.

Łukasz Swolkień, Development Manager at Data

My favourite value is "Eyes on the Customer" because they matter most. Understanding or knowing what our customers are doing is crucial.  Keeping the big picture in mind has helped me to see things in context, which in turn translated in increased quality of delivered solutions. Therefore, I focus not only on deliverables but first of all on the business goal, making sure that everyone in my organisation is aware of the context, value and impact of our work. It's my passion to create the best end-user experience.

Marcin Gierlak, Engineering Manager at MTT

We should always be "On the same side", shoulder to shoulder fighting for every inch, percentage, customer together if we want to be successful. I honestly believe that being on the same side is one of the most important values in the entire set, a simple recipe followed by all market-leading companies. In MTT we have proven many times that working together toward common goals allowed us to break silos. Consequently, showing outstanding progression for all the teams being on the same side.
