Krakow Managers share which William Hill value is the most important for them

The main purpose of our set of William Hill values is to protect the great things about our business that we want to keep doing. They influence the decisions and choices we make and each of them works as a guideline of how we behave to "go one better" every day. At the same time, they're a bit of a challenge as they set an aspiration about the kind of place we want to be in the future.

All values are equally important but some of them mean more to each of us. In this short series, we caught up with our Krakow colleagues to ask them which value is closest to their heart and why?

Wojciech Zdeb, Development Manager at Gaming:

My favourite William Hill value is "Give a damn" because for me it means "don't stay inert but call things out and improve" and "do your best all the time whatever you do". Also, it goes along with DevOps culture principle "improve everything". For me "Give a damn" value is necessary for the effectiveness of other ones: "Own it", "On the same side", "It'll do will never do", "Eyes on the customer". With "Give a damn" we can really make a difference.

Agnieszka Zielińska, Head of Portfolio at International:

My favourite William Hill value is “It will do will never do!“. I am always trying to step up to any new initiatives and take part in the activities that can make our work more efficient (and of course sometimes more fun). This value sits very well with my Agile mindset - I like to be focused on constant improvements, experiment, look for better, more efficient ways of doing things both at work and in my life. For me constant change is something I easily adapt to and I love the new challenges that changes are bringing.

My personal opinion is that each change and experiment can bring more opportunities, even if sometimes you can not see it at first glance. If you are not adapting and improving - you will stay behind as the world is constantly evolving every day and every hour.

Marta Hajdasz, HR Business Partner Kraków

It’s the whole set! I remember when I was taking part in the recruitment process and had to figure out if the company would be the right place for me I was really attracted by the values.

If I have to choose one there is “Give a damn” that speaks the most to me. Why is that? When you give a damn, for me it means you care, you get involved, lend a hand and make a difference. Your colleagues trust you to get the job done and you do the right things, often making improvements, rolling up the sleeves without checking your job description. It also means trying to bring every day your best self – and for that, we need to always be developing ourselves.

Mateusz Pluta, Technical Operations Manager at UK Tech

My favourite value is “Own It”. For me, it’s about commitment to be fully accountable for the results of a specific matter. It’s about seeing it through and bringing your creativity and best ideas to solve the issues. It’s about giving confidence to everyone around you that when you own something, you’re really OWNING IT and things will be taken care of. No excuses.

It’s not an easy task to have this kind of ownership, so it’s essential not to own too many things at the same time and not to overcommit.
